Network & Infrastructure Engineer
Building and automating the systems that keep the world connected, one lab at a time.
Hi, I'm Eliyahu, Eli for short. Most people find it difficult to pronounce or remember after the first time, so Eli works just fine.
I grew up in Ghana and took an unconventional path into engineering. I moved to China to study Electronics and Information Engineering, which is really just a fancy way of saying telecommunications Engineering with some extras at Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology. That degree set the foundation, but the years that followed shaped how I actually think about technology. From 2021 to 2024, I worked across software development, data engineering, and eventually led a development team, building things, breaking things, and learning what it means to ship real products.
In 2024 I started my Master's in Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park, where I've gone deep into networking, routing protocols, network automation and infrastructure design. Outside the classroom, I run a homelab on Proxmox where I get to actually do the things I study: spinning up Juniper vSRX routers, automating deployments with Ansible and Terraform, and experimenting with configurations that would be expensive to touch in a production environment. The homelab is where theory becomes instinct.
I'm also building xUtility, a personal web app that started as a way to practice full-stack development and evolved into something I actually use daily. It grows whenever I run into a problem worth solving.
The bigger picture: Africa's technology sector is at an inflection point, and I want to be part of what comes next, particularly in telecommunications and network infrastructure. There's a lot of ground to cover, and I'm in no rush to stop learning.
Ansible · Terraform · Python · Juniper · Linux · React · Proxmox · NETCONF · PyEZ · Git
A homelab project provisioning and automating a multi-router Juniper vSRX OSPF network on Proxmox. Infrastructure provisioning handled by Terraform, with Ansible managing router configuration through NETCONF, Jinja2 templates and Vault for secrets management.
A network automation tool that SSHes into Juniper vSRX routers, enables and queries LLDP to collect live neighbor information and renders the discovered topology as a visual graph with interface numbers and IP addresses.
Built with Srinath Ramachandran
A personal utility web app built to practice full-stack development and solve real day-to-day problems. Includes a project randomizer, movie watchlist tracker and a LeetCode spaced-repetition tracker in progress. Designed mobile-first, with more utilities added as new problems come up.
